Kitson House is perfectly positioned in Scarborough’s Old Town. From the back door you can be at the harbour in less than 2 minutes and amongst some of the most popular restaurants and bars on the seafront including The Tunny Club, ASK Italian, Marisco Lounge, The Golden Grid, GEO and The Harbour Bar.
There is plenty to explore on foot nearby including the Old Town itself, the harbour, South Bay's lovely sandy beach, the more rugged North Bay, Scarborough Castle, Scarborough Open Air Theatre, the Indoor Market, Peasholm Park, the SEA Life Aquarium, the Maritime Museum, St Mary's Churchyard (where Anne Bronte is buried), Luna Park funfair and Scarborough Spa at the far end of the South Bay.
If you wish to venture further away you can find Filey, Scalby and perhaps a day trip to York by train, taking an hour each way, with all its lovely boutiques and the beautiful York Minster. Scarborough is perfect for the traditional British seaside bucket and spade holiday, but you'll find plenty to occupy the grown ups too with some great eateries and bars nearby. If you've never visited before then Kitson House is a great place to start your Scarborough adventure.
While Kitson House is superbly positioned in the historic Old Town just 2 minutes walk from the harbour and some great restaurants, it is tucked away in an exceptionally quiet mews like location with no passing traffic or noisy bars. Perfect for a relaxing break without interruptions, yet handy enough to walk home after a meal out. Lovely views from every window plus a front and rear terrace with views to enjoy over a drink.
From the rear terrace, you can step out on to Tut Hill and if you turn left towards East Sandside, or right towards the Old Custom Steps you can be in amongst all the action of Scarborough in under 2 minutes.
If you wish to explore the historic Old Town area and walk towards the Castle, come out of the front door, turn right on to Princess Street and then left at Castlegate and follow the road upwards until you reach St Marys Church. Pass the church on your left and the Castle is on your right. There are some lovely walks around the outside of the castle walls.
To explore the shops and eateries that the town has to offer, the quickest way to walk is turning left on Princess Street and following the road to Scarborough Market - which has many artisan and collectible shops to explore. Beyond the market you can follow Eastborough and Newborough to the pedestrianised High Street shopping area.
If you are a fan of theatre the town has the Stephen Joseph Theatre and at the far end of seafront there is the Scarborough Spa Theatre. For music lovers there is the Scarborough Open Air Theatre based in the North Bay.
